5 Ways to Make Brushing Fun

At Curtis Family Dentistry, we understand that our patients and their families lead full, busy lives. From work to school to family obligations, it may feel like you’re rushing from the moment you wake up until you go to sleep at night. With everything else that’s going on, brushing your teeth twice daily for two minutes each time may feel like a drag.

However, brushing your teeth is an essential part of keeping your teeth healthy and strong. We’ve put together a list of five ways you can make brushing fun for you and your whole family.

  1. Throw a Mini-Party
  2. For a busy toddler, two minutes of brushing may feel like forever. But, you can make brushing a little more fun by turning it into a party! Play their favorite song, a short video, or read a two-minute story.

  3. Choose the Right Tool
  4. Let your child pick out their toothbrush. If they can choose a brush in their favorite color, they’ll be more excited when it comes time to brush!

  5. Make Toothpaste Fun
  6. Toothpaste comes in a variety of fun flavors, including bubblegum, birthday cake, and even bacon. You’re bound to find a flavor for even the pickiest brusher in your family!

  7. Create a Routine
  8. Like many things, brushing teeth becomes easier if it is part of a predictable, regular routine. Every family winds down differently, but establish a routine that you and your kids can expect to follow each night for a smoother time.

  9. Use a Reward
  10. What motivates you and your family? Whether it’s a sticker chart, a high five, or some other exciting form of motivation, if you can turn teeth-brushing into a fun game with a little reward, your kids will become experts in no time.

Remember to Floss & Come Visit Us!

With all the fun you’re going to have brushing, make sure you don’t forget to floss! Flossing helps clean the other 40% of your tooth surface that your brush can’t reach.
