First Visit

Welcome to Curtis Family Dentistry, a place for family-friendly dental care in Mooresville. Dr. Will Curtis, Jr., and our team look forward to meeting you when you come in for your first visit as a new patient. To help make you comfortable, we want to let you know what to expect when you visit us for your checkup and cleaning for the first time. For new patients, it is important that we gather all the necessary health and financial information to create a patient file. Before your first visit, you can fill out the new patient forms that are available on our website. This will give us most of the information we need so we can check you in quicker when you come in for your appointment.

During Your Appointment

When arriving for your first visit, our friendly team will check you in and make sure we have all the information we need. Shortly after, one of our dental assistants or hygienists will escort you back for your checkup and cleaning. In most cases, we will start by getting x-rays, unless you had recent x-rays that we received from your former dentist. We use digital technology that is safer and quicker than film, with better imaging. You will get two exams during your first visit, a periodontal exam and a thorough dental exam. The periodontal exam will be performed by our hygienist. This exam will check your gum health and measure any pockets that have formed around your teeth. You may also receive your first cleaning, depending on the time allotted and other factors. The dental exam will be performed by Dr. Curtis, who will use your x-rays and a physical exam of your mouth and teeth to fully evaluate your oral health. Typically, your first visit is to get a baseline of your oral health and determine the best periodontal and treatment plan for you. Both our hygienist and dentist will discuss any issues and the suggested treatments. Feel free to ask questions about the treatments suggested or about other services we offer, like cosmetic treatments or restorative dentistry.
